Tips to save money

Improving Credit Score

When you try to get a mortgage, credit card, contract mobile phone or buy insurance and pay by monthly debit, the lenders or the companies will score you to find out if you are a 'good' customer. The following points are important in deciding whether you are a good risk.

Electoral Roll: Get on the electoral roll. Make sure you return the electoral poll form. If you're not on the roll, you are not likely to get any credit

Employment Status:When you are employed, you score better. Home owners and those in regular paid jobs score more highly.

Marriage:Marriage does matter if you and your wife are financially linked in joint bank or mortgage accounts. Your wife's loan application will appear in your credit files..

Numerous Credit Applications:If you apply for many things in short space of time, the resulting credit searches hurt your score. Space out applications is the preventive measure.

Moving House:Moving house may disrupt a score. There is change of address and a new loan or top-up may have beennrequired.

Contact Telephone : When you apply, use a land line phone number.

Ignoring Rejection:If you are rejected, do not reapply again and again. Rejection records build up. If you're rejected, immediately check your files atthe credit score companies.

Settle Credit: Keep up payments and never default or be late.

Unused Credit Cards:If you have many unused credit cards or store cards, cancel most of them.
