The Myanmar traditional dance can be traced back to the Pyu period flourishing between the first and ninth centuries. Pyus were expert stone carvers, metal workers, musical instrumentalists, composers, dancers and choreographers. The Arts and Crafts owed much to Mons of Suvunna Boumi when King Anawrahta of Bagan Era brought the relics of Buddha and Buddhist scriptures from the Mon capital Suvunna Boumi. Monasteries and pagodas are decorated with intricate patterns of stucco works. Myanmar people used music to celebrate rituals and occasions. Singing and dancing at festivals is evidenced on clay tablets of the 5th to 11th century. Lacquerware is a famous local craft which can be traced back to China's Shang dynasty reaching Myanmar in the 1st century AD. Pre- historic and stone age finds, such as paintings, have been discovered in the remote areas of Myanmar such as Pyadalin cave in the Taunggyi district . In the 11th century, Myanmar traditional painting was derived from India culture in Bagan and floral patterns were the feature of these murals. Myanmar has a wide variety of exotic and delicious foods and fruits. By taking certain precautions travelers can enjoy most food items in Myanmar. Eat only food that has been cooked thoroughly and is still hot. Avoid uncooked food, apart from fruit and vegetables that can be peeled or shelled, and avoid fruits with damaged skins. LINKS
